Energy efficiency will unlock savings in the manufacturing sector.
With the industrial sector accounting for more than half the energy consumption, it is vital for stakeholders to explore technologies and solutions that deliver more with less, according to Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India.
Speaking at the 15th ‘CII Energy Efficiency Summit’ here , Purushothaman said: “Increased emphasis on manufacturing coupled with booming infrastructure growth will lead to increasing energy demand with ramifications on energy intensity, an important measure of the energy efficiency of a nation’s economy.”
According to Energy Statistics 2015, the industrial sector used 52.72 per cent of the total final energy consumption. .
Purushothaman said the need of the hour is a regulation/policy from the government that calls for mandatory usage of energy-saving drives that have the capacity to increase motor efficiency, directly impacting process efficiency and thus productivity.
