KN Shenoy, 83, former chairman of ABB and the past president of CII passed away on Monday.
Expressing deep sorrow over his death, CII said that the Indian industry has lost a visionary business leader who served the business community for decades and played a key role in leading CII at a time when industrial sector in the country was working under numerous shackles.
Shenoy was instrumental in making Indian industry quality conscious and led the quality movement, including setting up CII’s Institute of Quality, which he chaired for over a decade.
“Even after his retirement, Shenoy continued to provide his guidance to CII and industry would miss his sagacity and wisdom,” CII said in the statement.
He joined ABB (then Hindustan Brown Boveri) in 1962 and worked there for 40 years until 2002 of which 22 years were as Managing Director and CEO and six years were as Chairman.
He had also been Vice-Chairman of Volvo India Private Ltd and a Director on the Boards of GVK, Carborundum Universal Ltd and Sobis Software (India) Private Ltd.
