BNP Paribas, one of the leading broking companies in the country, has begun operations from its new Rs 40 crore corporate office here, said to be the only green building in the Kochi corporation, consuming less energy and water.
The 14 floor building located at nearby Padivattom, consumes 25 per cent less energy than the conventional buildings and 40 per cent less water, Managing Director, C J George said here.
It strictly adheres to the pre requisites for green buildings and is aiming to achieve the gold ratings certification.
With a total carpet area of 61,840 square feet, the building can accommodate 850 employees. Around 520 are currently working now, he said.
There are 3 training rooms with capacity of 130 persons, 18 meeting rooms, and parking facility for 57 cars and 200 two-wheelers.
The building also has a sewerage treatment plant and rain water harvesting facility.
The building constructed in a 60 cent property, and on cooling alone saves about 30 per cent electricity.
There are also plans to use solar power for outside lightings.
