The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, operated and managed by GMR Group, has bagged the Roll of Excellence award from the Airport Council International, in recognition of the airport being in the top three of the five airports in the world for five consecutive years in certain categories.
ACI, the global body of airports, has also adjudged the airport as the second best airport in the world for 2013 in the 5-15 million passengers per annum category. The airport improved its score to 4.80 from last year’s 4.71, an official release said.
S.G.K. Kishore, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, received the award from Angela Gittens, Director General of ACI at a function in Seoul.
The ACI, which surveyed 285 airports around the world, ranks the airports on the basis of airport service quality, which considers passengers appraisal from check-in through departure at the gate.
