JSW Cement Ltd, the largest manufacturer of Portland Slag Cement (PSC), has chalked out an ambitious expansion plans to enhance its production capacity to 30 million tonnes by 2020.
The company, one of the fastest growing cement manufacturing firms, has earmarked an investment of ₹2,700 crore to increase its capacity to 17 million tonnes by 2018 from the present 8.76 million tonnes, Anil Kumar Pillai, Director and CEO, JSW Cement said.
He was in Kochi to launch Concreel HD, an environmentally friendly unique cement product with improved chemical resistance, in the southern market. The new product has been specially designed for concrete based construction requirements and provides more durability as well as increased safety to the structure, he said.
With a five per cent market share in South India, he said the company would soon venture into the eastern markets. The new product launch will help the company to improve its market share.
JSW Cement Ltd is a part of $1.1 billion JSW Group with interest in steel, energy besides cement. The cement manufacturing plants are located in Vijayanagar in Karnataka, Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh and Dolvi in Maharasthra. All these production units are utilising slag, an industrial bi-product from the JSW Steel plants, to produce green cement. By converting these industrial bi-products into a useful product, the company has reduced the carbon footprint of the group, he added.
