Nagarjuna Fertilisers Ltd is sharpening its focus on adding organic fertilisers to its portfolio.

As part of this strategy, the company is in the process of tying up with formulations maker Prathista Industries to market the latter’s new generation nano-technology based organic farm nutrients.

The two companies are expected to finalise a tie-up and revenue-sharing model in the next couple of days before Prathista formally launches its new products on August 10.

The formulations maker has used licensed technology from CSIR to make the new-generation products, which, it claims can be a cheaper substitute to conventional chemical fertilisers and can be used for all crops.

M N Bhaskaran, Executive Vice-President of Nagarjuna Fertilisers, said the company will validate the efficiency of the new products internally through field trials, before adding to its portfolio. “We will complete the validation by the next kharif. Even if the products are at half the efficiency levels we are given to believe, we feel these would add significantly to our offerings and benefit farmers,” he said.
