Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd said on Thursday that its board has approved investment in four projects worth nearly ₹ 1,500 crore.

The biggest of the four projects is installation of STATCOM (Static Compensator) in the western region at an estimated investment of ₹ 1,071.24 crore. The commissioning schedule is of 30 months from now.

The company will also procure spare 765/400 KV transformers for the northern region at a cost of ₹ 63.56 crore. A fibre optic communication system will also be set up in the northern region at a cost of ₹ 197.40 crore to be commissioned within 36 months.

The northern region system strengthening is the fourth investment proposal that was approved. The investment for this will be ₹ 148.76 crore.
