Sony India has expanded its range of X series with the launch of two new 4K Bravia Ultra High Definition (HD) television sets. After launching the 84-inch 4K LED TV last year, on Tuesday Sony introduced the 65-inch and 55-inch screen sizes at “competitive” prices. The company said with India becoming its fourth largest market last year, it was an important market for future growth. The 4K TV sets in 65 inches and 55 inches screen sizes are priced at Rs 4,04,900 and Rs 3,04,900, respectively. The series offers four times more detail than a full HD television set, the company said. Kenichiro Hibi, Managing Director, Sony India, said after establishing market leadership in flat panel televisions, the company aimed to further strengthen its position with the new launch as well as other series announced this year. “Bravia is the largest category contributor toward overall sales of Sony India and contributed 35 per cent towards the company sales in FY12. With this launch, we are targeting a bigger market for 4K TVs by introducing the technology at a very strategic price-point. We will be increasing our Bravia marketing budget to Rs 250 crore and channel counters to 7,000 in FY13,” he added.
