Tata Global Beverages Ltd plans to expand its water portfolio to 10 per cent of its turnover.
According to Cyrus Mistry, Chairman, Tata Global Beverages, the water division currently accounts for just one per cent of the company's turnover.
"Water division currently accounts for one per cent and we intend to take it to 10 per cent," he said in response to a shareholder query during the company's annual general meeting.
The Chairman, however, did not give a time frame by when this will be possible.
Plans, he said, are also afoot to ensure a pan-India roll out of the portfolio. However, such a roll out will happen over a period of time.
Apart from Himalayan, the water portfolio is dominated by brands like Himalayan, Tata Water Plus and Tata Gluco Plus.
New Segment
Mistry further added that the company would explore options of entering into "functional teas" or the wellness segments.
A functional beverage is a non-alcoholic drink and consists of ingredients such as herbs, vitamins, minerals, amino acids or additional raw fruits.
"We will look at functional teas for cardiac and diabetes as a future growth area," he said in response to another shareholder's query.
