Bimal Julka on Monday assumed charge as the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

After assuming charge, he held a meeting with the senior officers on key initiatives of the ministry in the broadcasting and film sectors, including digitisation.

Prior to this appointment, Julka held the post of Special Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of External Affairs. He has also served as Additional Secretary and Director General in the Directorate of Currency under the Ministry of Finance.

In his earlier stints at the Centre, he has also served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence and worked in the Ministries of Finance, Civil Aviation, and Commerce & HRD.
