The Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report on the irregularities in implementation of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s subsidy schemes, in which Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s name is mentioned, is yet to reach the Public Accounts Committee. PAC Chairman KV Thomas told reporters here on Tuesday that it was up to the Lok Sabha Speaker to assign the CAG reports to the PAC.
The PAC meeting is scheduled to be held on May 28.
Gadkari had said in the Rajya Sabha that he is ready to face any probe on the issue and the CAG report should go to the PAC as per the procedure. “We are yet to get the report. It is tabled in Parliament. The Speaker may assign it either to the PAC or to the Committee on Public Undertakings,” Thomas said.
The report had named Gadkari in connection with violations in terms and conditions for subsidy schemes availed by Purti Sakhar Karkhana Ltd, a company promoted by him.
