Air India Express, the low cost arm of Air India, is to operate 119 weekly flights between Kerala and the Gulf sector up from the 96 that it operates now.

In a statement, the airline said the increase will be in a phased manner starting from March 28.

The frequency between Kozhikode and Dubai will be doubled from daily to two flights per day. The airline will operate a morning departure flight, in addition to the existing night departure flight to Dubai. Air India Express will also introduce daily two separate non-stop services between Kozhikode and Bahrain and Doha in the new schedule.

New destination Ras Al Khaimah is being introduced as a new destination with four weekly flights from Kozhikode. This flight will be shared with Al Ain, thereby increasing the frequency of flights between Al Ain and Kozhikode also to four weekly flights up from the current one weekly flight.

On Monday and Friday, the flight will be routed as Kozhikode – Al Ain – Ras Al Khaimah – Kozhikode and on Wednesday and Saturday, the flight will be operated as Kozhikode – Ras Al Khaimah – Al Ain – Kozhikode.

Non-stop service Besides, the airline will offer non-stop Kozhikode to Dammam flights four times a week while the services to Kuwait from Kozhikode will increase to five weekly flights from the current three times a week service. The airline will also increase the frequency of flights between Thiruvananthapuram and Dubai.

The airline will also expand its operations to Delhi with the introduction of daily flights between Delhi- Dubai and Delhi-Sharjah from May. The flights, which will start from May 10, will be operated by one of the six new Boeing 737 leased aircraft which are being inducted into the fleet.

The summer schedule will also witness increased operations from Mumbai. Two new services between Mumbai- Dubai and Mumbai-Sharjah will start from April 7.
