The Centre has approved an investment of ₹996 crore for capital projects of the Central Power Research Institute. In a statement, the Power Ministry said that that the approval was given to serve the growing needs for research and development in the power sector. “This will support augmentation of high power short-circuit facilities as well as establishment of new test facilities in existing laboratories of CPRI in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, Noida and Nagpur,” the statement added. The investment will also lead to a new laboratory being set up in Nasik.
