In order to extend a helping hand to the stranded people of Chennai due to unforeseen floods and also to facilitate relief operations during this natural calamity, telecom operator BSNL on Wednesday said it will provide free calls, SMS and data package for next seven days.
For example, for prepaid customers, it is offering free voice calls and STD and data package of 100MB. Similarly, for landline and broadband customers, it is offering free voice calls and 100MB data package.
For the postpaid customers, it said there will be a rental rebate of seven days and extension of billing cycle by 15 days.
Earlier in the day, Bharti Airtel also announced some offers for its customers in Chennai.
Some of the offers include auto approval of ‘Talk Time’ credit up to ₹30 for all Airtel pre-paid mobile customers, free-of-cost credit of 10 minutes of Airtel-to-Airtel calling for pre-paid mobile customers with a validity of two days and free-of-cost credit of 50MB mobile data for Airtel pre-paid mobile customers with a validity of two days.
Airtel post-paid and fixed line customers, whose bills are due to be paid immediately, will also get an extended time to make the payment and will experience uninterrupted services, the company said.
“The uninterrupted rains have also resulted in excessive water logging and disruption of essential services in Chennai, thus causing power failures and impacting our services in some regions. We at Airtel are relentlessly working with the local authorities to enable smooth mobile communication for Airtel customers across the city,” it said.
