Google on Thursday highlighted new features on Google Maps that it believes would address many navigational needs of the people.
With its latest feature multi-stop on Android (coming soon to iOS), one can now plan a road trip with multiple stops.
To enable the new feature, drive option on Google maps should be selected and destination could be added by tapping the car icon. Then on the menu button, which is on the top of the page, stop option could be selected.
Other features include offline maps, traffic alerts, finding new places, info on cab services and public transport information in metros, among others.
“We think these new features are useful and relevant to people,” Sanket Gupta, Product Manager, Google Maps, said here while explaining the new features.
Google Maps seeks to graduate to the next level to help people plan travel, explore their destinations. Features like multi-stop directions, offline, search along route etc. are aimed at making the travel more exciting and hassle free.
Also, in its feature – share your local expertise, it allows users to recommend or share their local knowledge. For every post, it will provide points and later based on the accumulated points or level, several benefits will be offered.
For example, Level 4 (200 points), it will provide free 100GB storage use and for Level 5 (500 points), the person will be invited to an exclusive event in California.
Correction
The copy has been modified to correct that Level 4 (200 points) will provide free 100GB storage use, and not 2GB, as an earlier version stated.
