InkTank printers and interactive projectors has made a big difference to Epson, its Head (Marketing and Sales) Samba Moorthy has said.

Moorthy told BusinessLine that the Indian printer and projector market has been growing at a steady pace, particularly after the inclusion of features such as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

“Printers and projectors are becoming lighter, more compact and easy to use than in the past,” he said. “For Epson, the growth has been phenomenal. We witnessed more than two-fold increase between 2011 and 2016. Our market share across products line moved north, but the main growth was from inkjet printers.”

Epson's inkjet printer market stood at around 20 per cent in 2011, he said. This swelled to over 51 per cent five years later in 2016. Research and innovation in this segment is giving a boost to modernising printers and projectors.

Referring to the company's projectors, Moorthy said, “This is one other product that has contributed to the rise in our market share. Our projectors are currently used widely in schools as it gives children an interactive classroom experience. We’ve also observed a sharp increase in the demand for the projectors, especially from tier-2 and 3 markets.”
