With three data centres become operational to back its business in India, Microsoft is expecting to achieve 25 per cent of its India revenues from the cloud business this financial year.
“Currently, the cloud business contributes 12-14 per cent to our revenues in the country. We are expecting this to go up to 25 per cent this year,” Neeraj Gill, General Manager (Public Sector), has said. He, however, refused to divulge the absolute revenue figures and contributions from the cloud.
Neeraj Gill was here on Tuesday to take part in a Smart City Startups Conclave under the CityNext programme. The firm tied up with the Telangana Government to encourage startups develop technology solutions for various government departments.
“We are expecting to garner at least 15 per cent of our government business from the cloud,” he said.
He felt that the existing Indian clients who are hosting their data on centres located outside of India might not shift to those in India. “Pricing will be more or less similar. We don’t expect the present customers shifting to data centres here,” he said.
He said the firm had invested $15 billion so far to build 100 data centres across the world.
