The Rohatyn Group (TRG) -backed Ness Digital Engineering plans to hire 800 engineers in India.

Talking to Business Line, Satyajit Bandyopadhyay, President and Chief Delivery Officer, said that with a growing pipeline of deals in sectors like retail, banking and financial services, as well as education and publishing, the company is looking to increase its investment in the form of hiring in India.

“We plan to launch a centre of excellence in Bengaluru along with the hiring,” he said.

Areas of focus Further, the Bengaluru centre will focus on areas like Machine Learning and software testing. Globally, Ness employs about 3,000 people. In January 2016, Ness opened a second Technology Innovation Center in Romania, adding to its centers across Asia, Europe, and North America.

Ness Digital Engineering, headquartered in the U.S., will be coming out with new service offerings leveraging DevOps, customer experience design, enterprise mobility, Big Data analytics, Internet of Things, and Business Process Management as some of the areas of future growth within its, primary focus on digital platform engineering.

As a custom software development firm, Ness believes digital platform development and product engineering requires a fundamentally different approach than running traditional enterprise IT services or providing staff augmentation, says Bandyopadhyay.

While the company is privately held and does not disclose revenue numbers, Bandyopadhyay said that it has grown in double digits in 2016 and would continue to grow in that range in 2017 too.

Ness’s optimism stems from the fact that as global companies embark on their journey to digitalise business processes to expand their markets and effectively engage customers, they subsequently look to build software platforms that can meet their changing requirements.

Digital initiatives

“Business stakeholders are investing more in digital initiatives because these programs generate an increasing share of their company’s revenue and directly impact their brand and competitive position,” said Bandyopadhyay.

“For education companies, we have created education management systems, virtual learning environments and various business areas for transportation companies.”

Some of the recent changes by Ness has been working for years with different kinds of companies on digital platforms.

There are software companies, Independent Software Vendors, and also companies in a variety of industries that run value-added software platforms to deliver digital products and services to engage with customers and partners.

In light of all this, there is a constant need to respond to changing market demands and competitive pressures, pointed out Bandyopadhyay.
