Technology giant Oracle has announced its second batch of start-up accelerator programme which include companies developing blockchain technologies to a not-for-profit fund for women-led start-ups.
Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator (OSCA) is an accelerator which provides mentoring, co-working space, access to Oracle customers and its technology, amongst other services. Talking to BusinessLine , Sanket Atal, Group VP of Development, Oracle India, said the company is trying to make its technology accessible to start-ups that can use it to build their businesses.
“We look at start-ups working in emerging areas like IoT,” he added. Typically, five start-ups are taken as a part of this mentorship programme, which runs for 6 months. Some of the advisors include Saurabh Srivastava, co-founder of Indian Angel Network, and others from companies like Paytm, Goibibo, Yahoo Labs, and InMobi.
This year, five start-ups that are part of this accelerator programme include Initcodes, a start-up that is developing a framework for digital transactions using cloud, block chain technology and predictive analytics. Similarly, as a part of OSCA, Ezedox provides a digital locker solution built on Aadhaar. Its solution provides digitally signed online applications, e-KYC enablement, storage, collaboration, categorisation, tagging, browsing and sharing of documents.
Another venture backed by OSCA is Sonder Connect, a not for profit trust founded by women to support women entrepreneurs.
As part of the programme, they will identify, nurture, and champion high potential women-led start-ups in India with the goal of growing them to be successful businesses.
Farebond, a data science and predictive analytics start-up that offers dynamic price lock for undecided travellers to hold their airfare, and Trendlyne, an advisor marketplace for financial services that provides equity scoring, analytics including interactive charts, custom alerts and aggregated business newsfeed – are other ventures as a part of the OSCA’s second batch.
Apart from Oracle, other multinationals also run accelerator programmes in India. Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Bosch, Target, Cisco and others have accelerators in the country.
