Nine start-ups at Hyderabad-based Spark10 Accelerator have just completed a 100-day acceleration programme, Cohort.
They are getting ready to pitch to investors and stakeholders on ‘Demo Day’ slated for July 31. Are they tensed? “No. I’m not. I’m quite confident about the idea and my product. I am confident of finding investors,” Santosh Thota, founder of artificial intelligence start-up FeltSo, told BusinessLine .
“My start-up is a completely different start-up now. With the help of mentors, we just launched a product, ItsTop10.com, which analyses thousands of reviews on any product or service and throws up suggestions based on various performance parameters.”
“Even though they will go for demos on July 31, we would like to extend their stay here for a few weeks should they need some more time,” said Atal Malviya, Chief Executive Officer, Spark10.
Typically, the firm picks 8 per cent equity in the start-ups for ₹20 lakh. “Half of it is in cash and the other half is in the form of kind, including some software, bandwidth and other benefits,” he said.
The other start-ups in the Cohort are BeHungry, Brisky, Carzip, Daddyspocket, Fliona, Oh’Look, Ornativa and Paysack. The services they offer range from providing intelligent solutions for the hospitality industry to jewellery retailing.
Ravi Warrier, Chief Operating Officer, Spark10, said the schedule for Demo Day included sessions by mentors and vendors. “We will review their progress at regular intervals and release the funds on reaching certain milestones,” he said.
Promoted by a few London-based investors, Spartk10 is now planning to expand operations in India. “We are planning to start accelerators in Bengaluru and Delhi. We will also open them in tier-II cities such as Warangal to tap the talent there,” Malviya said.
