Internet of Things (IoT) platform and Machine-to-Machine service provider Telit has launched technology modules for India, as it expects an uptake from sectors such as transportation, automotive, energy and government.

The London-headquartered company has launched its portfolio of products which includes LTE-based solutions that can be fitted into the network and used to connect different kinds of devices. “These modules will help customers solve their need to use wireless technologies as they move from 2G to 4G LTE networks,” said Fred Yentz, CEO of Telit IoT platforms.

Ashish Gulati, country head of India, added that as Indian operators deploy LTE networks, they can use Telit’s IoT modules to programme, maintain and scale up their needs.

Telit believes that uptake of IoT in India will come from sectors like automotive, which is using for cases like vehicle diagnostics and proactive management of a vehicle’s health.

KyungJun Lee, Senior Director Marketing, Telit APAC, said that the application of IoT in various fields within India will see benefits for both the service providers and customers. The company has also ensured that these have been achieved at a minimal cost coupled with greater efficiency improvement. The “smart city programme by the Government would further showcase the strength of IoT applications within various smart city applications,” said Yentz.

Further, Telit has tied up with Tech Mahindra to develop solutions around its IoT platform. It involves combining and integrating Telit’s portfolio of IoT products and services with Tech Mahindra’s system integration capability to develop specific solutions. Also, Telit will outsource related engineering development and testing activities to Tech Mahindra.

Industry watchers opine that as companies are exploring ways in which IoT can help them improve operational efficiencies and drive new business models, many — especially large multinational enterprises – remain intimidated by having to put all the pieces together by themselves.
