Traders are keeping their fingers crossed the over the upward trend of coconut oil prices both in Kerala and Tamil Nadu this week. The prices in Tamil Nadu has touched a record ₹150/kg (₹130) whereas in Kerala, it stood at ₹140 (₹129). Copra prices also joined the rally quoting ₹104/kg in Tamil Nadu (₹93) and ₹102 in Kerala (₹94). Thalath Mahmood, Director, COMA, attributed the price rise to low production and high consumer demand. Bharat N Khona, former Board Member, Cochin Oil Merchants Association (COMA), said that there was a subdued demand from upcountry and corporate buyers at this price range.
