On Thursday 5,200 bags, including 2,400 bags of Mysore Eight variety of turmeric , arrived for sale and all the new turmeric was sold for a maximum price of ₹8,400 a quintal, said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. Finger turmeric fell by ₹50 to ₹100 a quintal, but the price of the root variety improved by ₹100 a quintal. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, finger turmeric sold at ₹5,211 to ₹8599 a quintal, the root variety sold at ₹5,014 to 7,869 a quintal. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric sold at ₹7,019 to ₹8,639 a quintal, while the root variety sold at ₹6,969 to ₹7,869 a quintal.
