Pepper markets continued to witness a firmer trend on Thursday on good demand amid tight availability. There were neither any arrival nor any offtake at the terminal market today.
However, exporters turned Inter-State dealers have reportedly bought 50 tonnes of reprocessed pepper (exchange released pepper mixed with farm grade material) of 550 GL at ₹705 a kg delivered at Walayar, market sources told Business Line. They said local availability of farm grade pepper is tight and hence the spot prices continued to move up by ₹100 a quintal to ₹69,400 (ungarbled) and ₹72,400 (garbled).
On the IPSTA, September and October contracts also moved up by ₹1,000 a quintal to ₹72,000 and ₹71,000 respectively, while November dropped by ₹1,000 to ₹66,000. Export prices moved up to $11,000 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,250 for the US.
