Spot pepper prices ruled steady on Friday on limited activities. On the spot, there were neither any arrivals nor any offtake as no seller was forthcoming at lower rates offered by buyers. All the active contracts on the IPSTA ended lower in day trading. Each contract was down by ₹1,000. Upcountry markets are fed by imported pepper being bought in at the rate of 1,000-1,200 tonnes a month, market sources told BusinessLine . Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹70,000 (ungarbled) and ₹73,000 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices were at $12,400 a tonne (c&f) Europe and $12,650 for the US.
