Barring masur, majority of pulse seeds in Indore mandis on Friday witnessed a downtrend on sluggish demand. Masur (bold) on Friday ruled firm at ₹5,750-5,800 a quintal, while masur (medium) ruled at ₹5,200. Compared to last week, masur is up ₹50, while in the past two weeks prices have gone up by ₹250 a quintal. Given delay in arrival of imported masur from Canada on account of snowfall there, future of masur appears bullish. Rally in masur has also perked up its dal with masur dal (medium) being quoted at ₹6,600-6,700 on Friday, masur dal (bold) ruled at ₹6,800-6,900 a quintal.

Moong and urad on the other hand have been witnessing sluggish trend in local mandis on slack demand and rise in arrival of new crops. With fresh bout of rains coming to an end, arrival of new moong in local mandis has gathered momentum, leading to sharp fall in its prices. On Friday, moong (new) ruled at ₹6,200-6,300 a quintal amid arrival of 200-250 bags of new moong. Moong (old) on the other hand was quoted at ₹5,500-6,000. In the past one week moong prices have almost declined by ₹700 a quintal. As arrival of new moong will peak further in the coming days, future of moong appears bearish.

Decline in demand and weak buying also dragged moong dal with moong dal (medium) on Friday in local mandis being quoted at ₹7,000-7,100, moong dal (medium) ruled at ₹7,500-7,800, while moong mongar ruled at ₹8,000-8,100 a quintal (down ₹200 from last week).

With new urad hitting local mandis, it has also been witnessing a downtrend on sluggish demand with urad (bold) on Friday being quoted at ₹4,800-4,900 a quintal, while urad (medium) ruled at ₹4,200-4,500. In the past one week, urad prices have almost declined by ₹400. Given bumper crop report and rise in arrival of new urad in the coming days, sluggish trend in urad will continue, said pulse trader Babulal Khandelwal while talking to BusinessLine .

Decline in urad also dragged its dal with urad dal (medium) on Friday being quoted at ₹5,500-5,700, urad dal (bold) at ₹5,800-5,900, while urad mongar ruled at ₹6,900-7,000 a quintal.
