Spot pepper prices moved up on Friday as supply declined following the withdrawal of sellers from markets. Primary market dealers said they are not getting the material from growers. Therefore, only 16 tonnes of pepper were traded. On the spot, prices gained ₹500 a quintal to ₹59,500 (ungarbled) and ₹62,500 (garbled). On the IPSTA platform, the active contracts were steady. Export prices were at $10,650 a tonne for prompt shipments. February shipments were at $9,650 while that of March were at $9,000.
