Spot pepper prices ruled steady as demand matched supply. Arrivals increased today indicating of some selling pressure. A total 47 tonnes of pepper arrived and the entire quantity was traded. Of this, 16 tonnes were from Karnataka and rest mainly from the High Ranges of Kerala which went for ₹620-625 a kg. According to exporters, Vietnam prices continued to stay steady at $10,200 a tonne – $100 cheaper than the Indian export prices. Spot prices ruled steady at ₹60,000 (ungarbled) and ₹63,000 (garbled) a quintal. Active futures contracts June, July and August also remained unchanged at previous levels. Export prices were at $10,300 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,550 for the US.
