Spot pepper prices ruled steady on Monday despite selling pressure. The arrivals soared and stood at 132 tonnes today and the entire quantity was traded. The materials arrived from Kodagu region, Wayanad’s Pulpally and Bathery, High Ranges of plains of Kerala. Leading exporters were aggressively buying. They were also covering directly from the primary markets in Kerala, market sources told BusinessLine. Singapore and Vietnam exporters were reportedly offering MG 1 at $10,100 a tonne, they claimed. Spot prices stayed flat at ₹60,000 (ungarbled) and ₹63,000 (garbled) a quintal. June, July and August contracts on the IPSTA platform went up by ₹500 a quintal to ₹63,000 each respectively. Export prices were at $10,400 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,650 for the US.
