Sugar prices in the spot market ruled steady, while it declined in the futures market on Friday. Heavy rain and disruption in power supply at the Vashi market hit trading; however, prices remained unchanged at all levels except for the fair variety which was sold ₹2 to ₹5 lower and fine quality at ₹2 to ₹4 premium.
Prices fell in the futures market on lack of any driving factor.
Arrivals at Vashi market were higher at 58-60 truckloads and local dispatches were 57-58 loads. On Thursday evening, 14-15 mills offered tenders and sold 28,000-30,000 bags at ₹2,950-3,020 (₹2,950-3,020) for the S-grade and ₹3,070 -3,180 (₹3,070-3,180) for the M-grade.
Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates were: S-grade ₹3,100-3,202 (₹3,100-3,202) and M-grade ₹3,202-3,382 (₹3,202-3,386).
Naka delivery rates were: S-grade ₹3,050-3,140 (₹3,050-3,140) and M-grade ₹3,150-3,290 (₹3,150-3,290).
