The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday has filed its first charge sheet, against 68 persons in the Rs 5,574 crore scam, at the National Spot Exchange Ltd (NSEL).
Former top executives of NSEL and brokers have been named in the charge sheet.
Sources said that the ED in the charge sheet has pointed that NSEL had earned Rs 1,300 crore as warehouse receipts and transaction charges but they had been shown as expenses in the books of accounts.
Further investigations are underway.
As recent as March 12, the ED had had attached a Gujarat-based castor oil extraction plant worth over Rs. 278 crore of N K Proteins, an accused company in the multi-crore scam, which has rocked the commodities market.
