The rupee was trading flat at 66.19 against the US currency at about 4.05 pm on foreign fund outflows amid appreciation in the US currency overseas.
The rupee opened lower at 66.24 per dollar against yesterday’s closing level of 66.19 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market.
Fresh demand for the US currency from importers and banks kep the rupee under pressure.
However, gains in domestic stock markets capped the rupee losses, they said.
It moved in a range of 66.29 and 66.17 during the intra-day trade.
Globally, the dollar was flat at 120.35 yen, having rebounded sharply from a low of 119.255 overnight. The dollar index nudged higher to touch a three-day high of 96.046.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex finished 311 points higher at 25,764.78.
