General Atlantic has appointed Sandeep Naik as the Managing Director and Head of the firm’s Mumbai office.

Naik will lead GA’s investment advisory activity in India as part of the firm’s continued strategy to invest in growth companies in this important high growth economy, said a release from the company.

Prior to this, Naik was a partner and co-head of the India office for Apax leading investments in the healthcare, financial and business services and retail and consumer sectors.

He has participated in a number of investments including Apollo Hospitals, Spectrum Labs, Esprit Pharma and Xanodyne. He has also served as a director of publicly listed company, Apollo Hospitals.

General Atlantic is a global growth equity firm which provides capital and strategic support for companies. It was established in 1980 and manages around $17-billion capital.
