Gold prices were up by Rs 56 to Rs 29,270 per 10 grams at the futures trade as speculators raised their bets amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month December was trading higher by Rs 56 or 0.19 per cent at Rs 29,270 per 10 grams in a business turnover of two lots. The yellow metal for delivery in October gained Rs 44 or 0.15 per cent to Rs 29,115 per 10 grams in 418 lots.

Market analysts said raising of bets by participants following a firm trend in global markets influenced gold prices at the futures trade.

Meanwhile, gold was trading 0.01 per cent higher at $1,287.60 an ounce in Singapore.
