Shares of Coal India will see higher activity this week, as its officers plan to go on a three-day strike from Thursday demanding a settlement of pay-related issues. The strike could hit its 1.5 million tonnes per day output. According to analysts’ estimates, the strike will impact production and dispatches by an estimated four million tonnes of coal. This comes at a time when the miner is facing a shortfall of over 17 million tonnes to its 2013-14 target. The stock on Wednesday closed firm at ₹259.75.
