US stocks were down on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average had heavy decline due to selloff in emerging market currencies.

The Standard & Poors 500 Index retreated 1.4% to 1,803.64 in the morning trade. This week the index has declined 1.9%

The Dow was down 183.60 points, or 1.1% to 16,013.75 points.

The volatility in the emerging markets and the sell-off in currencies are affecting the sentiment, said analysts.
