Shares of Tech Mahindra and United Spirits today rose as much as 3.6 per cent after their inclusion in the benchmark NSE index Nifty effective March 28.

Tech Mahindra’s scrip surged 3.61 per cent to Rs 1,886.70 on the NSE.

Similarly, shares of United Spirits rose by 2.15 per cent to Rs 2,414.90.

Ranbaxy Laboratories and Jaiprakash Associates are being moved out of Nifty. Shares of Ranbaxy Laboratories fell by 2.35 per cent to Rs 359.10, while Jaiprakash Associates scrip was trading in the green.

Shares of Ranbaxy have crashed by more than 19 per cent since the beginning of the year.

Ranbaxy has been facing a series of issues with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which had last year banned drugs produced at its Mohali plant in Punjab for violation of current good manufacturing practises.

In the broader market, the benchmark BSE Sensex was trading at 21,057.33, up 70.34 points at 1211 hours.
