The demand for analytics professionals in the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) centres across the country would grow exponentially in the coming years, an official of SAS India said.
“At present there are 3.5 lakh professionals working in the various KPOs dealing with analytics in the country. The demand is growing at a CAGR of 25 per cent,” Sudipta Sen, Regional Director (South East Asia), Vice-Chairman and board member of SAS India said.
He said by the year 2020, according to SAS India estimates, India would contribute six per cent of the global big data mining from the present levels of four per cent.
This would create the need to produce such professionals within the country.
Sen said several foreign banks had already set up their back offices for data analytics in the country, which showed that India had the right kind of talent.
“Today analytics has moved from the backroom to boardroom and is fuelling the demand for managers with analytical skills,” he said.
Sen said SAS India, which developed the software for analytics professionals, tied up with the Calcutta Business School for teaching such programmes to the students of the institute.
