Long queues snake in front of theatres across the country as Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is slated for release on Friday in over 9,000 screens in India and abroad in several languages.

The craze for the film is so high that online ticketing platform BookMyShow sold 10 lakh tickets within 24 hours of opening sales.

“With this, BookMyShow has also already clocked its highest ever advance sales revenues for a movie. This record was previously held by Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal ,” said Ashish Saksena, Chief Operating Officer - Cinemas, BookMyShow, said.

Incidents of tickets sold at a premium, priced ₹600-2,400, are being reported from several cities. The Telangana government has allowed the producers of the film to screen five shows a day in the initial days. The film has attained much hype, as the first movie in the series had left the audience spellbound with some spectacular visual effects and a cliffhanger.

While tech firm AMD is setting up experience zones in theatres to give the film a 3D perspective, the producers have come out with the IMAX presentation of the film.

The producers spent anxious moments last week as some Kannada organisations threatened to stall the release, protesting against actor Sathyaraj’s alleged stance against the State during the Cauvery water row some time ago. The stage has been set for the film’s release in Karnataka after Sathyaraj offered apologies.

Director SS Rajamouli and leading actors Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati had a whirlwind tour across top cities in India and abroad to promote the movie. The producers have tied up with gaming and animation firms, writer Anand Neelakantan and others to further the life of character Baahubali, well beyond the screen.
