An animated book series on Indian war heroes will be adapted for the small screen, according to its authors Major General GD Bakshi and his son Aditya Bakshi.

War Heroes of India , which was earlier published as a series of graphic novels and comic books, will be made into an animated series of 52 episodes, Major General Bakshi said.

Every episode will be dedicated to an inspiring story of Indian heroes like Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who sacrificed his life in the Mumbai 26/11 attacks, and many other bravehearts like him, he said.

Over 400 real life stories have been researched by its authors Major General Bakshi and his son Aditya Bakshi. The animated TV series has been planned for an all India release with Hindi as the key language, while it would also be dubbed in regional languages.

“The Indian armed forces and the Border Security Force are some of the most combat tested forces in the world. There are hundreds of stories of great valour and sacrifice that can motivate kids and spread values of duty honour and courage among our youth. An animated series portraying these stories is the best way to instil values today,” Bakshi said.

Pune-based creative studio ScreenYug Creations Pvt Ltd, which has produced popular shows like Little Krishna , Big Bees and more recently Shaktimaan are working on the project, he said.

“An Indian war heroes television series is the need of the hour. Animation is the only medium which can do full justice to war stories,” ScreenYugs content creator and chief mentor Ashish SK said.
