The Delhi Police today asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who began a dharna outside Rail Bhavan along with his six ministers, to shift his protest to Jantar Mantar, citing prohibitory orders in the high-security area.

Police said they will not allow the demonstration to continue in the area and have requested the Chief Minister to shift to Jantar Mantar, the designated protest hot-spot of the city.

Defying prohibitory orders, Kejriwal accompanied by his ministers attempted to go to North Block housing the Home Ministry to lodge their protest but the police stopped them outside the Rail Bhavan.

Earlier, police had sealed the nearby Vijay Chowk and the entire Rajpath for the Republic Day rehearsal.

Kejriwal has been demanding action against police officials who refused to carry out a raid on an alleged drug and prostitution racket in South Delhi last week.

The Chief Minister has announced that he has come prepared for 10 days of protest and would continue the agitation further if need be.

The protest by Kejriwal has badly hit traffic around the Central Secretariat area.
