Just a week after the traders in Delhi went on 48- hour trade bandh against the ongoing sealing drive in the city, they have now announced a rally against the same issue on February 15.

Traders also demanded that the Central government should bring an ordinance to stop sealing as they believe that the monitoring committee is working in an arbitrary manner.

Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said, “Necessity of an ordinance by government to stop is essential now since the monitoring committee is conducting sealing in a most arbitrary manner while crushing the democratic rights of the traders.” He added, the fundamental provisions of MCD Act 1957 are being over-looked in a clandestine manner under the guise of Supreme Court order. The traders are being grossly denied of their rights available under MCD Act.

Rally next week

In a bid to intensify their protest, the decision to carry out rally next week was taken at a meeting attended by the leaders of about 300 trade associations of Delhi, said the press release.

On February 2, the traders association had carried out a 48 hour Delhi Trade Bandh. More than 7 lakh commercial establishments and 2500 markets across Delhi took part in the bandh.
