Eastern Railway increased its total loading to 5.535 million tonnes (mt) in May, 2014 surpassing the target of 5.380 mt as against 4.575 mt during May last year. The total revenue earning from freight loading also increased to ₹413.13 crore in May (₹310.43 crore). While in volume terms, the growth was 20.98 per cent, the revenue grew by 33.08 per cent. Coal loading stood at 3.707 mt last month. The cumulative revenue loading figure and freight earning of Eastern Railway for April and May, have also increased to 11.017 mt and ₹784.28 crore, respectively, as against 9.217 mt of loading and ₹607.34 crore earning in the year-ago period.
