1) The first tranche of sovereign gold bonds for this fiscal will open for subscription on April 24 and close on April 28. The bonds will be sold through banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India (SHCIL), designated post offices and recognised stock exchanges, including the National Stock Exchange and the BSE. As in the previous tranches, investors can invest in a minimum of one gram of gold and a maximum of 500 gm in a year. Investors will get a fixed return of 2.50 per cent per annum payable semi-annually on the nominal value. “The issue price of the gold bonds will be ₹50 per gram less than the nominal value,” said the Finance Ministry.

2) BCCI'S acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary will attend an ICC meeting on Monday, accompanied by the Indian apex cricketing body's CEO Rahul Johri. The Supreme Court last week said Choudhary will attend the ICC's board and financial and commercial committee meetings. Johri would attend the Chief Executives' Committee meeting. The Committee of Administrators had asked the Supreme Court to nominate a BCCI representative at the ICC. IT had also asked to clarify whether office bearers disqualified by the Lodha Committee's recommendations could return as representatives of state associations or the BCCI.

3) Maruti Suzuki is to launch the facelift of its compact sedan DZire on Monday. The company has touted the new model as DZire, dropping the prefix Swift to make its identity distinct and independent of the popular hatchback. Since its launch in 2008 and through a makeover in 2012, over 13 lakh units of the DZire have been rolled out of Maruti Suzuki’s factories, making it leader of compact sedan segment of players such as Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Amaze, Toyota Etios, Volkswagen Ameo and Tata Tigor. The new DZire will make it to the showrooms anytime in May.

4) Reliance Industries is to hold a board meeting on Monday to consider and approve standalone and consolidated audited financial results for the quarter/ year ended March 31, 2017 and to consider and recommend dividend on equity shares of the company.

5) LG is to launch the G6 in India on Monday in an effort to gain a foothold in the premium market. The G6 will be priced at ₹56,990. Announced back at MWC this year, the G6 packs 5.7-inch QHD LCD panel with 18:7 aspect ratio, ensuring 5.7-inch display in a 5.2-inch typical smartphone body. The processing power is backed by Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB ROM with micro-SD slot.

6) A Special court has posted for April 24 consideration of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s charge sheet in a disproportionate assets case against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, his wife and others. Additional Sessions Judge Virender Kumar Goyal adjourned the hearing on the charge sheet to the next date. The CBI has accused Singh of amassing assets worth ₹10.30 crore between May 2009 and June 2012 when he was the Union Steel Minister. The amount is allegedly 192 per cent of his total income from known sources during the period.
