Women’s groups in the country are planning nation-wide rallies on Saturday to protest the mass molestation in Bengaluru on New Year’s eve, and subsequent comments by politicians blaming the women for the crime. The protests, publicised under the hashtag #IWillGoOut on social media, are meant to coincide with the ‘Million Women March’ in Washington on January 21, the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration as President of the US.

An inter-ministerial team deputed by the Central will tour Tamil Nadu from Saturday to make an on-the-spot assessment on the state government's memorandum seeking drought relief in the wake of poor monsoon and the ensuing water crisis. The team will tour the state until January 24 before heading to New Delhi to recommend drought assistance.
