A special one-day session of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature has been scheduled for Tuesday to ratify the Constitution Amendment Bill on GST. The Bill has been supported by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Second Amendment) Bill, 2014 on GST has already been passed by the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
The Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) is to pass its order on a petition filed by Ricoh Company Ltd (RCL) under company law provisions that govern oppression of shareholders and mismanagement of the company. RCL, the Japanese parent company of Ricoh India Ltd, in its petition sought action against Ricoh India and its officials, under Sections 213, 241 & 242 of the Companies Act, 2013. Ricoh India is under scrutiny for inconsistencies in its accounts.
Today is the last day for people to send their suggestions and views on the New Education Policy to the Human Resource Development Ministry. The HRD Ministry has put on its website a gist of several recommendations made by the committee headed by former Cabinet Secretary T S R Subramanian on which it has sought comments. The entire report is also on the website of the National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA).
A court has fixed August 16 for further hearing of a criminal defamation case filed by Minister Arun Jaitley against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders after noting that the matter is pending in the High Court. Earlier, the court adjourned the matter after Kejriwal's counsel submitted that its earlier order, refusing to stay proceedings in the criminal defamation case, has been challenged in the Delhi High Court.
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan is to address a public meeting, organised as part of the state-level conference of the Central Organisation of Tamil Nadu Electricity Employees (COTEE), in Tiruvannamalai on Tuesday. The Kerala chief minister would address the public meeting on the final day of the four-day state conference of the organisation. The conference has been organised to put forth various demands.
