The BJP president Amit Shah will address election meetings in Tamil Nadu today in the run-up to the Assembly elections on May 16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will campaign in the state on Saturday. Other prominent national leaders including Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley would also be campaigning in the State.

The Delhi government is to organise a 'thanksgiving event' at Chhatrasal Stadium today to thank all those who participated in making the second phase of odd-even scheme a “success”. Delhi transport minister Gopal Rai said the credit for the success of the scheme goes to civil volunteers and traffic police deployed on the roads during the road-rationing plan.

The Supreme Court is to hear today the Centre’s appeal against the Uttarakhand High Court verdict on imposition of President’s rule in the state, toppling the Harish Rawat regime. The court has asked the Attorney-General to take instruction on holding a floor test under its supervision.
