IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) at Burnpur in West Bengal is on the verge of commencing integrated operations in its modern 2.5-million-tonnes-per-annum (mtpa) steel plant constructed at an investment of Rs 17,000 crore, a SAIL release said.
SAIL Chairman CS Verma on Wednesday reviewed the “state of final readiness of these completed units” for commencing operations.
The major facilities that would commence production soon include the blast furnace, basic oxygen furnaces, oxygen plant and the bar mill.
Many of the major facilities under the expansion programme - the 7-m-tall coke oven battery, 2x204 sqm sinter plant, power & blowing station, and the 0.5 mtpa wire rod mill - have already commenced operations on a standalone basis.
