In a bid to enhance healthcare services, Chennai-based Klinikals has aggregated neighbourhood pharmacies and lab chains in the city on its online platform.
Consumers can now order medicines and avail lab services online through four channels – app, e-mail, phone and whatsapp.
Kenneth Massey, Co-founder and Director - Marketing, said while there are many services that provide healthcare services online, there are not many that focus on the hyperlocal market. Such players cater to the local crowd and have significant customers, and Klinikals is meant to tap into that market.
The company identifies neighbourhood pharmacies in every 3-5 km distance. Currently there are 20 pharmacies in parts of the city such as Anna Nagar.
Kumar SA, Co-founder and Director – Operations, said the company plans to go hyperlocal for labs as well. The company has partnered with 6 labs so far and have their own last-mile delivery team to ensure quality. Patients can also book appointments through the four channels for tests that require them to be present in the lab. This is how the delivery works. When you sign up for a a test online, a certified technician comes to your house to take blood samples. “We have our own standards to maintain and have created an infrastructure in-house to monitor the samples.”
Revenue modelThe company gets a fee per transaction from pharmacies. In case of labs, customers will have to pay ₹150 as convenience fee, in addition to the test fee. The company is bootstrapped and has invested close to ₹1 crore in the platform. Kumar said the company will look for investments after six months for the expansion of its portfolio and customer acquisition.
ExpansionJayashree P, Co-founder and Director – HR, said the company is in talks with more local pharmacies and lab chains to cover Chennai by the year-end. “After that we want to add doctors, nursing and physiotherapy services to our portfolio. We are also looking at expanding the services to cities such as Bengaluru in the coming months,” she added.
