Sales from Kolkata Book Fair, which had dropped in 2017 as a fallout of demonetisation, is likely to witness a rebound in 2018.

According to Tridib Chatterjee, General Secretary of Publishers & Booksellers Guild, footfall and sales at the fair this year are expected to be better than the previous year.

“In 2017 we had recorded sales of around Rs 20 crore, down from Rs 21 crore in 2016. This year we expect sales to be better as the impact of demonetisation has tapered off,” Chatterjee told newspersons on the sidelines of a press conference to announce the inauguration of Kolkata Book Fair 2018.
